The Fortress Energy UK Team will be setting off on a 145-mile cycle from Blackpool to Scarborough this weekend in aid of leading children’s charity, the Amelia Mae Foundation.
The ambitious team of 40 cyclists will be hitting the road at 5am on Saturday (July 3rd) from Blackpool’s North Pier Promenade in order to meet the deadline of making it to Scarborough by 8pm on the same day.
Martin Atkinson, our Managing Director said:
“I am delighted that so many of my work colleagues will be joining me in this weekend’s charity cycle in aid of such a worthy cause. We have all dedicated many hours of training to meet our ambitious goal of covering 150 miles in one day.
We feel excited and ready for the challenge ahead and even when our legs begin to ache, our team morale will remain strong and we will push forward for every single mile knowing we are raising much needed funds to support the Amelia-Mae Foundation”.
Foundation’s Chair of Trustees, John Murray added:
“A huge well done to the team at Fortress for taking on this challenge, they are doing a wonderful thing to raise awareness and funds for our charity and we are extremely grateful that they have chosen to support the Amelia-Mae Foundation.

The main sponsor for our charity ride is our partner company Thortrium, who are providing accommodation, shirts, and medals for competitors as well as support staff. Global consulting and engineering company, Wood Plc and Jorvik Radio have also made significant donations, making the charity ride possible.
Matt Lloyd, DJ with 94.8 Jorvik Radio, will be airing live coverage of the teams’ progress throughout the day on Saturday:
“We love supporting charities and we are thrilled to offer our support to the Amelia Mae Foundation coast to coast bike ride. We’ll be covering the event throughout the day to keep up with how all the riders are getting on and we’re looking forward to being part of an exciting event and to seeing those riders cross that finish line. We wish all cyclists the best of luck with the challenge.”
We are hoping to smash last years target of £15,000, so any donations towards our efforts can be made here.
